About Audiogame Jam
Audiogame Jam is a game jam event challenging developers to make a games playable by people without sight. We have several aims.
- To raise awareness of accessibility issues in games experienced by visually impaired people.
To encourage game developers to design their games with accessibility in mind.
To promote the work that sight loss charities do in helping visually impaired people engage with technology.
I started Audiogame Jam to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People, a sight loss charity in the UK for which I volunteer. I have sight loss and the RNIB have been a great source of support at many points of my life. Audiogame Jam is my attempt to help them provide the support I enjoyed to others with sight loss.
The first Audiogame Jam event ran from August 26th to September 5th 2017. 16 games were submitted and a modest amount of money was raised. Plans are being made for another event this year. Please follow us on Twitter at @MakeAudiogames for the latest updates.
